My sister who blogs on ChaoticChitChat wrote a really nice recap of the Wave Gathering in Asbury that we went to last weekend. Check it out below:
Wow, despite the rain what an awesome weekend in Asbury Park, NJ. It was non-stop music all over the town at the 4th Annual Wave Gathering Music Festival. I was partying all weekend like a rockstar.
On Friday (the only day it did not rain this weekend) Suzanne, Jeanette, and I kicked off opening night at The Saint. The first performance we saw was The Milwaukees a great band from Jersey City, NJ. We then headed down to Asbury Lanes, the most fabulous retro rock-n’roll bowling alley, to watch Mondo Topless. After that we took a quick stop by The Brickwall and The Annex and headed back to The Saint to see The Highlines from Los Angeles.
Saturday the Street Festival was going on from 12pm to 6 pm on Cookman Avenue and once the rain subsided for a bit we headed over just in time to catch Outside the Box, The Reveling, Val Emmich, and Red Wanting Blue. They were all fabulous and Val Emmich sounded so extraordinary that even the sun came out to see him. The rain came pouring down just as Status Green was getting set up. Luckily the organizers had a back up plan in place and everyone moved the show over to Mattison Park, where Status Green rocked the house.
After going home to eat, change, and chill we were back at The Saint where we saw Maybe Pete, The Honors, and The Lights Out. The Honors and The Lights Out were awesome, but the Lights Out had the best merch display I have ever seen, plus it was self service LOL Next time they are in your area you must check them out!
Sunday night we were at Asbury Lanes to see Barry and the Pentrators where we danced to rock reggae with our new surfer friends. Next up was The Obvious and their special guest Lou Montesano from Status Green. So fun! What a great end to an exciting weekend.
The Wave Gathering was a fabulous time, I got to hear lots of great music and meet some really cool people. I can’t wait for next year.
