Song of the Day: “Oh The Evil!!!” by Michael Leonard Witham

Michael Leonard Witham 3
Today’s song is “Oh The Evil!!!” by Michael Leonard Witham. The saying goes that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. This is exactly what happened when the self-proclaimed “junk
collector” came across a well, worn Yamaha acoustic guitar in a dumpster behind a strip mall in Shreveport, Louisiana in the summer of 2010. At first sight, he thought he could make a few bucks off the instrument. However, he began to find himself intrigued with learning to play. The music poured out of him effortlessly and he realized he wanted to pursue a full time music career.

In early 2011 about five months after the dumpster dive, Witham was chosen to perform in the Arkansas Times Muscian’s Showcase, an annual music event in central Arkansas which features the best talent in the region. Over 200 bands submitted music, and Witham was the only solo performer selected on the strength of his home recordings made in a closet with an iPhone. Between 2011 and 2013 Witham began performing in music venues in and around his hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas.

This song is off the band’s upcoming debut EP A Scandal In The Violets which is out this October 21st 2014. Witham has a graceful, and natural sound. His melodies combine a beautiful blend of folk, rock, soul, and country. His lovely music is only surpassed by his raspy, intriguing, and exciting vocals.
