Today’s song is “Rock Me” by Mark Sultan. The Québec, Montreal artist also known as Marco Antonio Pepe has play(ed) in The King Khan & BBQ Show, Les Sexareenos, Spaceshits, The Almighty Defenders, The Ding-Dongs, and Mind Controls.
Mark is thought to be – for better or worse – ground zero when it comes to doo-wop infused garage rock in modern times. The new album only touches upon this briefly, with far more nods to mid-60s moody sounds done in his inimitable style. His live show is a surreal non-stop, mildly improvised romp through decades of sounds, combined with over-the-top energy and sexual/violent overtones. ‘Like a haunted jukebox’.
This song is off his upcoming BBQ LP due out November 25th via In The Red. He will be hitting the road in support of the album (see dates below).
